PLC splitter SM 1×16 0.9mm, G657A fiber
The 1×16 PLC Splitter, CONNECTICO, Black Box (18x80x120), G.657A, 2mm, 1m, SC/APC (Part number: CO-S-PL-116-BB-2000-SCA) from FCA is a PLC type with a connector and 1×16 configuration. Fiber optic splitters are passive component that split the fiber and its signal. The signal is sent along of fiber and when it reached a fiber optic splitter, the signal is divided into two or more signals.
Optical couplers, otherwise known as splitters, are passive devices that distribute optical power. They are designed to split or combine the received signal, providing it with one or more outputs.
Manufactured using the PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) method, they provide a high standard for applications in high-density locations. They are used in P2MP and WDM networks, where the optical signal coming from the central facility, with different power and length, is divided among many subscribers.
Optical splitters are characterised by high reliability, stability and directivity, while ensuring low insertion loss. They are terminated with any type of connector and come in several housing versions.

Fiber Type (ITU) – OS2 G.657.A2
Each type of single-mode fiber has its own area of application, and the evolution of these optical fiber specifications reflects the evolution of transmission system technology from the earliest installation of single-mode optical fiber to the present day. Choose the right fiber is very important for each project/installation. The OS2 G.657 standard single-mode fibers were developed to allow a better bending radius regarding the G.652 standard. For the OS2 G.657 fiber there are 4 subcategories: G.657.A1, G.657.A2, G.657.B2, G.657.B3.
The G.657.A2 fiber type is characterized by 7.5 mm minimum bending radius. These specifications of the G657 fibers allow to have a better cost-efficiency due to compact cable designs and reduced space requirements. Find some benefits when using the G.657.A2 fiber type:
Excellent macrobend performance (low bending radius);
Fiber Mode – Single Mode (SM)
Single mode fiber uses a LASER light source, is a type of optical fiber with a small core diameter that allows only one mode of light to propagate. It is used in telecommunications and data transmission systems to transmit signals over long distances with low attenuation and high bandwidth. Single mode fiber is ideal for high-speed and long-distance applications, such as internet backbone networks, cable television networks, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services. Its narrow core reduces the dispersion of light, allowing signals to travel further and faster than with multimode fiber.
